The beginning of 2023 brings about the spread of Preliminary data of Tesla electric car sales in 2022. Also last year sales continued to grow, reaching well over one million units sold worldwide: 1.313.851 units in total between Model Y, Model 3, S and X. This figure represents a record, but also a slowdown of the strong growth of the past years. In particular, the reduction took place in the second quarter of 2022; furthermore, deliveries have not fully saturated production.

Even in 2022 Tesla was the first electric car manufacturer in the world. Behind it, however, the traditional manufacturers are rapidly approaching and, primarily Chinese, are starting the process of converting production. An example is Byd, now also landed in Europe, which with 911 million units of electric cars is just under one million cars sold in 2022. Byd itself is first in the world with regard to plug-in hybrids, with over 1 million and 800 thousand cars sold.
