How do I pay car tax online in Lombardy?

To pay your car tag online, all you have to do is access the PagoPa platform. You can access the PagoPa service in two ways:

• via the link that will be sent to your email address after you fill in this form (it may not be sent immediately because the service is operational from 06:00 to 22:00).
• viathe personal area of the ICA website, where if you are already registered you will not even have to enter your personal or vehicle details (this service is operational from 00:10 to 23:45).

Please note that payment will be made through one of the PSPs (Payment Service Providers) present on the platform chosen by you. They will apply their own collection fees, so please check the final amount to avoid paying much more.

In case you don't know, direct debit is an operation that allows a bank account holder to automatically pay certain recurring charges, such as phone bills or car bills. Activation is simple and free and all you need to do is request activation at your bank's counter.

To activate the direct debit of your car bill you will need to send the authorisation mandate to the Lombardy Region. You can do this in 3 ways:

• Fill in themandate and send it online from the personal taxarea. Remember that the mandate must be sent before the end of the month preceding the month of payment (for example, send it before 30/4 if the payment deadline is 31/5). Please follow the procedure below:
1. Access the system through one of the following three "strong authentication" modes:
• HealthCard: you only need the PIN associated with your card (ask for it at the SpaceRegion or ASST counters) and a smart card reader.
• SPID: a system consisting of a username and password to access all online services (you can request it here).
• OTP: a disposable code
2. Filling in the vignette debit authorisation mandate
3. Send the mandate through the computer system
• Fill in themandate online and send it by post. Remember that it must be received by the Region before the 15th of the month preceding the month in which the payment is to be made (e.g. received before 15/4 if the payment deadline is 31/5). Please follow the procedure below:

2. Print it out.
3. Sign it (if the account to be debited is not yours, you also need the signature of the account holder.
4. Send it by ordinary post (not registered) to: P.O. Box n. 11048 - 20159 Milan.

1. Enter the missing information on the mandate (personal and vehicle data should already be provided).

3. Send it by normal post (not registered) to: P.O. Box n. 11048 - 20159 Milan.

Please note that:

• Compliance with the terms of sending the mandate can only be determined online. If you are late by mail, the benefits (10% discount) will be applied only from the following period.
• If you decide to send the mandate by post, you will have to use only the forms received with the renewal notice or downloaded online.
• You can revoke the direct debit at any time.

To pay car tax at authorized intermediaries just find the nearest one to you and go to them. You will receive a receipt that you will have to keep until 31/12 of the third year after payment. But who are the authorized intermediaries? Below is a fairly complete list of authorised intermediaries:

• Intesa San Paolo Group counters, ATMs and home banking where you can only pay for the current year. If you choose ATM or home banking you will not have to pay any collection fees.
• ATMs, cash machines and home banking of each institution that has an agreement with the Automobile Club Italiano (ACI).
• Italian Post Office counters and home banking
• Authorised tobacconists affiliated to Banca 5 Spa or members of the Lottomatica circuit.
